This 25-hour course gives an overview on the latest development of obstetrics, midwifery and neonatal care. It includes reinforcing the application of midwifery care and bioscience knowledge to practice. The course will cover a wide range of topics across the pregnancy course and neonatal period. Upon completion, midwives should be able:
- To understand current antenatal screening and prenatal diagnosis
- To update on contemporary childbirth management, including management of high risk pregnancies and obstetric emergencies
- To learn more about hospital and community postnatal support to mothers and infants
- To gain knowledge on newborn screening and care of high-risk infants
- To reinforce on medico-legal issues and evidence-based midwifery practice
